Summer into autumn
Oh dear, what happened to the summer? Well, it got gobbled up by a detached retina (Ian - emergency surgery etc), general maintenance, and seemingly endless general busy-ness.

And it's not like there was nothing to say - take this moth caterpillar I found crawling over the greenhouse in early August. I think it's a pale tussock moth - but all the picture's I have seen have 4 yellow tufts, not 2. Pretty spectacular anyway.
Then we emptied the pond - but the wet weather meant the digger got behind in its schedule and hasn't come yet to do the re-shaping. Maybe next week...

Never mind - the honeysuckle is still in flower, keeping the insects busy. The dragonfiles are still out and about, we found a hedgehog in the garden last evening (Muttley tried to pat it - bad idea), and this morning, as the autumn mist lifted on a lovely sunny day, I took this pic of devil's bit scabious. Popehouse Moor is still colourful, with knapweed and scabious, though the cows are due for their end of year munch any time now.
We've had a lovely few days of sunshine, though autumn is apparently on the way - but I'm sort of looking foward to all those leaves to cruch through!
