Scrub bashing on Popehouse Moor...
Our hard working WWOOF volunteers have been helping us clear scrub on Popehouse Moor. This is part of our Higher Level Stewardship management to reclaim some of the culm grassland lost to encroaching brambles and willow. It's hard going, with boot grabbing mud, but you warm up once the fire is going.
This section is at the western end and will lessen the barrier between Popehouse Moor and Lower Newland Moor. Later we'll be laying the hedge here too. When that's done and as the cows continue to graze both areas together in the summer, we hope more of our best wildlife and wild flowers will return to Lower Newland Moor.
