Orchids in Popehouse Moor
Maggie's blog, 19 June 2007
The orchids are at their best in the nature reserve right now. The delicate pale heath spotted orchid is poking up through the purple moor grass everywhere. And at the far end, where the scrub is beginning to take over, we've found a lovely patch of elegant purple flowers - southern marsh orchid I think. They are almost swamped by other vegetation, so we might have to prioritise managing this end, or risk losing them. I don't think I need say more - these images speak for themselves.
